The industry strongly believes that the communities where we work should benefit from our operations. This is why we’ve committed to maximizing the economic benefits in the communities where we’re present. The benefits will be significant for both local communities and Quebec as a whole.

We work with local communities to identify business opportunities, to maximize local benefits. The industry has already spent approximately $14 million in Quebec employing local contractors.

Municipal property taxes paid by the shale gas industry can directly benefit local Quebec communities. For example, there are eight communities in British Columbia in early stages of shale gas development. Those eight communities each received $8 million in municipal property taxes as the result of oil and gas development.
